Foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin on Tuesday said the situation at the border between China and India was "generally stable", days after reports of a clash in the area between troops from both sides.

The Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had on Tuesday said a face-off in a border area had resulted in injuries on both sides and India had raised the matter diplomatically with China,

Deadly clashes had broken out between the neighbours in June 2020 when troops were involved in hand-to-hand combat.

That incident led to the death of four Chinese troops and 20 Indian soldiers.

Troops on both sides have adhered to long-standing protocols to avoid the use of any firearms along the de facto border known as the Line of Actual Control. (Reuters)
