Health authorities reported 17,080 new Covid infections on Thursday, the highest daily tally since late March.

Officials said 831 of the cases were imported.

Nineteen more patients with coronavirus have died.

Meanwhile, health minister Lo Chung-mau is under home quarantine after a member of his household tested positive for Covid, the government said.
