The government on Friday reminded the public that all pre-paid SIM cards must be real-name registered before February 23 next year, and that unregistered ones cannot be used from this date.
It said in a statement that people can complete real-name registration through their telecom service provider's website, retail outlets, mobile apps or at designated post offices.
The authorities will also provide an enquiry service at mobile support stations at designated MTR stations starting from Saturday.
"Members of the public are also called on to remind and assist their family members and friends, in particular the elderly, currently using pre-paid SIM cards to complete real-name registration before the deadline to avoid disruption of their telephone services," the statement said.
