Two doctors have been charged with the manslaughter of a patient who suffered from acute liver failure after receiving treatment from them in 2017.

Police said the two had treated the 44-year-old woman from January to February 2017 in a hospital in Kwun Tong.

The woman, understood to be Tang Kwai-sze, had to receive a liver transplant as a result, but died in August that year after undergoing two operations.

The force said the two doctors, aged 45 and 50, will be brought before the Eastern Magistrates’ Court on January 16.

In a statement, the Hong Kong Medical Association said it is trying to learn more about the case and will provide assistance to its members.
