Police are investigating the death of a 65-year-old pedestrian who was hit by car in Sha Tin on Thursday night.

According to the force, the accident happened at 10.49pm and involved a private car driven by a 35-year-old man heading west along Tin Sam Street. It reportedly knocked the woman down as she crossed the road near a bus stop.

The woman sustained serious head injuries, and was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital where she was certified dead.

A 62-year-old female passenger in the car reportedly felt unwell after the accident and was sent to Prince of Wales Hospital.

The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death.

Police have appealed for any witnesses of the accident to come forward.
