Services on the East Rail line were disrupted on Lunar New Year's Day after a person entered the tracks at Tai Wo Station, forcing the suspension of trains in the area.
Police said an elderly man fell onto the tracks at Tai Wo Station at around 11am on Sunday after losing his balance.
The 72-year-old sustained injuries to his head and hands. He was conscious when being sent to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin.
Services were operating between Admiralty and Tai Po Market, and between Fanling and Lok Ma Chau.
Passengers were advised that some trains may terminate or join the line at intermediate stations, while empty trains were being dispatched to ease crowding.
Services resumed at about 1.15pm, with the MTR reporting minor delays.
