The police on Tuesday evening launched an investigation into a shooting incident on the outlying island of Peng Chau that left three people, including two officers, injured.

At about 10 pm officers had gone to Wing On Street to deal with noise complaints from a restaurant. According to reports an officer fired three shots at a man who allegedly resisted arrest and attacked him.

Sources told RTHK the man who was shot was 43 years old and was wounded in his hand and waist. Another 33 year old man was arrested on suspicion of obstructing and assaulting police. The two are both Philippine nationals.

Two officers were slightly injured and sent to Ruttonjee Hospital. The man with gunshot wounds to his hand wai was flown to Eastern District Hospital by helicopter.
