Unseeded Wu Yibing of China beat eight-seed Adrian Mannarino of France in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to enter the semifinals of the ATP Dallas Open in Dallas, Texas on Friday.
Earlier, Wu had beaten Canadian left-hander Denis Shapovalov in the previous round and continued his giant-killing run when he beat the left-handed Frenchman to become the second male Chinese player ever to reach the semi-finals of an ATP tournament.
Wu, who was the 2017 US Open Junior champion, had only burst into the top 100 last week for the first time ever.
The 23-year-old said having a "pretty relaxed mentality" was the key for his victory.
Pan Bing was the first Chinese man to reach the semi-finals of an ATP event in 1995.
Wu will take on local favourite and top-seed Taylor Fritz in the semi-final on Saturday. (AP)
