The online food and grocery delivery platform, foodpanda, has confirmed that one of its delivery riders was killed in a traffic accident in Kwai Chung on Tuesday morning.
The 42-year-old man man was riding his motorcycle along Wo Yi Hop Road towards Tsuen Wan when he collided with a taxi shortly before 7am.
He suffered serious head injuries and was later certified dead at Yan Chai Hospital.
The male taxi driver, 66, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.
In a statement, foodpanda said it was deeply saddened by the accident and had visited the hospital to offer support to the victim's family.
It also said the accident happened within an hour of his shift and falls within insurance coverage. The company added that it's also providing additional funding to support the family.
