The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Algernon Yau, visited Wan Chai Post Office on Thursday to view the support services in place for real-name SIM card registration.

He reminded the public that all pre-paid SIM cards must be registered before February 23, as unregistered ones cannot be used from that day.

"I appeal to all the citizens, especially the elderly, to register as soon as possible. And we have 18 designated counters in the post office to offer the assistance and 25 designated counters in the MTR stations to offer assistance, and they can also go to the service provider for registration," said Yau.

"It is very handy, easy. Just use your ID card with the SIM card and the portable phone that can receive the SMS and the registration will just take about a few minutes."

People can also complete the registration through their telecom service provider’s website or app and at some retail outlets.
