The national men’s basketball team on Thursday notched another victory ahead of this summer’s Fiba world cup, beating Kazakhstan 71-59 at a showdown in Tsuen Wan Sports Centre.
Team China has won all of their last five matches and has already qualified for the world cup, to be held from August 25 to September 10 in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
Centre Zhou Qi – who played for the Houston Rockets for two seasons – led the team with 16 points and 12 rebounds in the Group F Asian qualifier.
Rustam Murzagaliyev led Kazakhstan with 13 points and five assists.
Team China will next play Iran on Sunday.
