A woman arrested on the mainland in connection with the murder of socialite Abby Choi was on Wednesday released on a HK$50,000 bail.

Pun Hau-yin, 29, was handed over to Hong Kong police on Tuesday after being picked up by mainland authorities.

Appearing at Kowloon City Court, she faced one count of assisting an offender with intent to impede his apprehension or prosecution, for allegedly arranging a yacht for Choi’s ex-husband, Alex Kwong, to flee Hong Kong.

Kwong, along with his parents and brother, are currently in custody. Three of them were earlier charged with murdering Choi, whose dismembered body was discovered inside a Tai Po village house last month.

Pun is due back in court on May 8, the same day when other cases related to the murder will also be heard.
