Pok Oi Hospital on Sunday called in police after an incident involving a damaged power cable left a nurse requiring medical treatment for electric shock injuries.

The hospital in Yuen Long says inspection of the cable, which was connected to a computer on a drug-dispensing trolley, showed what it called "unusual damage".

In a statement on Monday morning, it said: "The hospital is very concerned about the incident and has reported to the police last night. The hospital will fully co-operate in the investigation."

The nurse required treatment for numbness and was in a stable condition, the hospital added, saying it would "provide all necessary care and support".

The hospital said it had ordered checks on all similar trolleys to ensure the safety of patients and staff. It's also reported the matter to the Hospital Authority and the Labour Department.
