The government said public hospitals and care homes are dropping the rapid Covid test requirement from Saturday.

In a statement published on Wednesday, the government said visitors to these premises will no longer need to produce a negative rapid test result.

It added those who work at these places, as well as care home residents, will not need to get tested every day.

However, officials advised staff and visitors at such premises to keep their masks on to reduce the risk of virus transmission.

A government spokesperson said the Covid situation is easing and lifting the rapid test requirement is in line with its management measures for other upper respiratory diseases.
