President Xi Jinping has highlighted the bright prospects of rural industries during a trip to Maoming city in Guangdong.

Xi on Tuesday went to a village in Genzi Township, where he inspected a lychee orchard as well as a longan and lychee cooperative. He commended villagers’ efforts to boost rural revitalisation by developing the distinctive industry for the fruit.

The president said the village is a “hometown of lychees”, noting it has distinctive features and advantages in growing the fruit.

He added this is an effective approach to promoting common prosperity. (Xinhua)
