Police on Friday said they had arrested a 60-year-old taxi driver suspected of selling counterfeit smartphones to passengers and duping them out of a total of HK$6,000.
The male suspect was picked up on Wednesday in Yuen Long on suspicion of obtaining property by deception.
Nine counterfeit phones were seized, police said.
Officers had received reports in February and this month from three alleged victims, who said they had realised the phones they bought while in a taxi were fake.
The passengers were said to have paid between HK$1,500 and HK$2,500 for the phones.
