The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health on Thursday said it is investigating a confirmed case of Mpox, which is also known as Monkeypox.
It involves a 34-year-old man, who is unvaccinated against the virus. He developed a rash on April 12 and went to a doctor's on Wednesday, when he was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital.
The man is now in a stable condition and in an isolation room.
The CHP suspects the case is imported.
The World Health Organization says the disease is spread through physical contact and most people fully recover after two-to-four weeks. It said children, pregnant women, and people with weak immune systems may suffer complications.
