Chief Executive John Lee said on Saturday the government is open-minded about a rail transit system from a mainland company, as he continued leading a delegation of principal officials and legislators on a four-day trip to different cities in the Greater Bay Area.

Delegation members visited the headquarters of BYD in Shenzhen earlier in the day, and were briefed about a rail transit system dubbed the "SkyShuttle" developed by the company.

On whether the administration will bring in the system, Lee, who's tried the technology, said the government is open to anything that is good for Hong Kong's development.

"The Transport and Logistics Bureau has all along been proactive in studying mass transit system, especially on its smart and green development," he told reporters.

Lee added that the authorities need to look at a range of factors, including the city's environment and finances.

The delegation split into two groups in the afternoon, with Lee leading some lawmakers to visit commercial drone manufacturer DJI and an innovation and entrepreneurial hub that fosters start-ups.

Lee noted Hong Kong and Shenzhen - a place he described as a "brother" to the SAR - have much in common.

"Many different new industries have successfully started in Shenzhen, and they are doing well. Hong Kong is also a place where dreams come true," Lee said.

Another group, headed by Chief Secretary Eric Chan, paid a visit to the headquarters of tech giant Tencent.

The two groups will travel to Dongguan and Foshan separately, before visiting Guangzhou together on Monday.
