The Hospital Authority said a piece of concrete fell from the ceiling of a staff changing room in Tuen Mun Hospital on Monday, but no one was injured.
The hospital’s spokesman said the slab had been found above the false ceiling in the women's changing room after a worker reported hearing the sound of falling masonry.
He said the hospital is very concerned and is investigating the cause of the incident.
The spokesman added that work, including the demolition of walls, had been carried out on the floor above.
Emergency repairs have been arranged and nearby facilities will also be inspected, he said.
There have been several recent cases of concrete falling from ceilings and walls in public hospitals, including Pok Oi Hospital, Eastern Hospital and Kwai Chung Hospital.
