Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau said the government attaches great importance to youth development and education as they're key to the future of Hong Kong.

He stressed that the authorities would allocate necessary resources to equip young people with a diverse range of skills and nurture them, so the new generation loves the country and Hong Kong, and possesses a global perspective.

Yau was speaking in a ceremony on Monday during which RTHK and the Vocational Training Council (VTC) signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate and provide media-related internship and job opportunities for VTC students and graduates, to train as broadcasting professionals.

He said RTHK, as the only public service broadcaster in Hong Kong, has been actively supporting the development of young people through its various youth programmes.

These programmes provide students with hands-on experience in the media industry, helping to prepare them for successful careers in the field, he said.
