Police on Sunday said they've pulled off their biggest cocaine seizure of the year after raiding units in Tuen Mun and Sha Tin.

Officers said they seized 223 kilograms of cocaine from an industrial building in Tuen Mun on Friday, before finding another four kilograms of the drug inside a public housing flat in Sha Tin.

In a separate operation in Jordan, officers seized ten kilograms of suspected heroin concealed inside skincare products.

Together, the drugs are believed to be worth around HK$190 million.

Seven people, aged between 25 and 61, were arrested. Five of them have been charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug.

Lau Kai-pang, a superintendent in the narcotics bureau, explained how the drugs operation worked.

"They tried to use concealment to hide the drugs in some cream products. This is to make it more difficult for law enforcement agencies to detect the drugs concealed inside," he said.

"Second of all, they tried to use different locations to store the drugs, with the purpose to diversify the risks and minimise the chance of being detected."

Lau said he believes the two cases are not linked, adding that investigations are continuing.
