The Hospital Authority is considering a global talent scheme to attract non-local medical professionals to work in Hong Kong, chairman Henry Fan said on Tuesday.
"We are contemplating a global talent scheme to recruit healthcare talents from all over the world for short-term employment for a year or two in the HA," Fan said in a conference speech.
"These talents will be provided with advanced training at specialities of their choice," he added.
Fan also said the authority will continue overseas recruitment and will expand its Greater Bay Area talent exchange programme to address manpower shortages at public hospitals.
Chief Secretary Eric Chan, who attended the opening ceremony for the authority's conference, said wide-ranging efforts are being made to attract non-locally trained healthcare professionals.
He noted that hundreds of people had attended the authority's recruitment event in London last month.
