Hong Kong stocks rose at the open of business on Monday morning on news US President Joe Biden and Republicans had hammered out a deal to lift the US debt ceiling to avert a default.
The Hang Seng Index added 0.43 percent, or 80.16 points, to 18,827.08.
The Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.23 percent, or 7.25 points, to 3,219.76, while the Shenzhen Composite Index gained 0.24 percent, or 4.87 points, to 2,017.36. (AFP)
