Police on Saturday said they arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving and drug trafficking, after his car allegedly rammed into a police vehicle just before midday.
Officers said they tried to intercept the car after receiving a report that it had a fake number plate, but the man ignored warnings and drove his car at a police car.
Two officers then shot at the car near Hung Hom Division Police Station. No one was injured.
Police said they later found 80 packages of suspected cocaine in the car, with a market value of about HK$100,000.
Superintendent Alan Chung of the Kowloon West regional crime unit said the officers had no choice but to open fire because they had to consider the safety of other road users and police officers.
