A Chinese navy training ship arrived in Manila on Wednesday for a three-day goodwill visit to the Philippines.
More than 300 people, including the Chinese ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian, welcomed the Qi Jiguang at the port.
It's the final stop for the ship on its Southeast Asian tour through Vietnam, Thailand and Brunei.
The Chinese embassy said the vessel will be open to the public for two hours each day.
This is the first visit to the Philippines by the Qi Jiguang, which is also the first Chinese navy ship to visit the country since Ferdinand Marcos Jr. won the presidency last year.
Rival territorial claims by Beijing and Manila in regional waters have affected bilateral relations, and there are hopes that the visit by the training vessel could boost ties. (Agencies)
