German Chancellor Olaf Scholz hosted Premier Li Qiang for talks on Tuesday, seeking to recalibrate cooperation between China and Germany.
Trade, climate change and the war in Ukraine are believed to be on their agenda.
The meeting in Berlin is the seventh time the two countries have held high-level government consultations and comes a day after President Xi Jinping met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Beijing.
Li is on his first trip abroad since he was named premier in March.
He met on Monday with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and had dinner with Scholz at the Chancellery before the start of formal talks.
Li said China was ready to work with Germany to contribute to global stability and prosperity. (Agencies)
