DAB chairwoman Starry Lee said on Wednesday that she plans to use next week’s National People’s Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) meeting to discuss ways to improve cross-border travel arrangements.
The meeting will be held in the capital from June 26 to 28.
Hong Kong’s sole delegate to the NPCSC said she will discuss with Beijing officials whether the health declaration QR code – that Hongkongers still have to show when entering the mainland – is still needed.
She said the arrangement is causing congestion at the border and has made it harder for the economy and society to bounce back from the pandemic.
She added that some people, such as the elderly, have found it hard to comply with the requirement.
