The city's only beverage carton recycler on Wednesday said it has found a new home.

Mil Mill said on social media that the new plant is bigger than its current one in Yuen Long, and the company will offer more recycling services and products.

Founder Harold Yip said the new lease is longer than six years. He did not say where the facility is located, but said the search for the new home wasn't easy.

"We had evaluated more than 30 sites before we finalised on this location," he told RTHK.

"We had to contact different departments to ensure compliance, to [see] whether the site was legitimate for pulping services."

The firm said its current landlord, the Science and Technology Parks, had agreed to extend the lease for three months to the end of September, and that it hopes its new plant can start operating right after that.

Mil Mill was earlier told to move out after the Science and Technology Parks decided to turn the Yuen Long Industrial Estate that houses the recycler into a high-tech park.
