Wong Yuk-shan, a former Metropolitan University president and a former local deputy to the National People's Congress, has been named a deputy director of the Basic Law Committee.
He's succeeding Maria Tam, who has held the post of deputy director since 2018.
Wong has been a member of the committee since 2008.
The National People's Congress Standing Committee announced the change on Wednesday as part of a membership reshuffle.
The Basic Law Committee advises Beijing on matters relating to Hong Kong's Basic Law.
