Three former supervisors of a sub-contractor of the airport’s third runway project have been charged for allegedly accepting bribes from construction workers in relation to their employment with the company.
In a statement, the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) alleged that between June 2020 and June 2022, Tang Kwok-leung, Jiang Fa, and Ting Shi-tong of MLife Engineering Limited (MEL) accepted bribes of over HK$800,000 from 80 construction workers to help them secure or continue their employment with MEL, among other things.
At the time, MEL was responsible for recruiting construction workers to carry out tasks related to the building of the third runway.
The three face a total of 30 related charges, and have been released on bail pending their appearance at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts on Friday.
