Director of Broadcasting Eddie Cheung on Tuesday led a delegation to Guangzhou to inspect the Guangzhou International Media Harbour Westport and an ultra HD video innovation industrial town in Mount Huaguo, where he met with the head of Guangzhou Broadcasting Network (GZBN), Cui Songdong.

The two stations implemented a number of cooperation plans, which include working together on cultural tourism projects in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), hosting a coming-of-age ceremony event that promotes exchanges between Guangzhou and Hong Kong youths, and conducting in-depth discussions on issues such as documentary copyright.

It's also announced that a new programme titled "Starting from the Bay Area", co-produced by young directors from GBA cities, will be broadcast exclusively on RTHK and Radio Guangzhou in October when the country celebrates National Day.

Cheung said the two stations have established a partnership since 2021 and co-produced the television programme "GBA Lifestyle”, which has aired more than 400 episodes in Hong Kong and Guangzhou.

Radio Guangzhou plans to broadcast the programme in other GBA cities.

Cheung added that RTHK has been actively promoting cooperation and exchanges with different media in the mainland, following an announcement on June 29 to further strengthen cooperation with China Media Group.

“In the future, RTHK will continue to strengthen the provision of high-quality programs to help the people of Hong Kong better integrate into the overall development of the country and the GBA, and cultivate their sense of national identity,” he said.
