A maintenance worker lost his right forearm, while inspecting escalators at Tseung Kwan O Hospital on Saturday afternoon.

A hospital spokesman said the accident happened at about 1 pm, as the 50-year-old contractor was performing regular maintenance work.

The man was sent to the hospital's emergency department for surgery.
