A video depicting a brawl that broke out on Thursday at the U18 Bangkok Invitational ice hockey match between Thailand and Hong Kong went viral on the internet.
The video shows chaos on the ice at the end of the game, following a 3-0 Thailand win over Hong Kong.
Something was reportedly said in the handshake line, setting off the brawl which involved players from both teams dropping their hockey sticks and attacking each other.
Ice officials tried to stop the melee, but some of the players remained emotional and fell during the clashes.
Among the spectacle, one player – Thomas Chanlaor, player 24 from the Thai team in black jersey – stole the show.
Though isolated from the rest of the action, the young player could be seen aggressively throwing punches and kicks… at no one.
His movements amused many netizens, with one writing on social media: “is the dude in the far back fighting his demons?"
“There’s a bee flying around him,” another wrote.
"Dude in the back [player 24] is my new favorite player.”
The video has already attracted over 1.6 million views on Twitter.
When asked about the clashes, the Hong Kong Ice Hockey Association told RTHK that it’s not sure what exactly happened on the ice.
