Police on Thursday made another two arrests linked to their pursuit of eight people overseas accused of various national security offences.
The national security department said it had arrested a man and woman, both 29, for suspected “conspiracy to collusion with a foreign country or with external elements to endanger national security” and “conspiracy to doing an act or acts with seditious intention”.
The force said the pair are believed to have connections to five people arrested earlier this month who were accused of operating an online shopping app and sponsoring overseas crime suspects.
RTHK understands the latest people arrested are Lily Wong and Chan Kok-hin who are former members of the now defunct political party Demosisto.
Sources said Wong and Chan are suspected of sponsoring fugitive Nathan Law because of their previous senior membership of the group.
At the start of the month, the force offered a HK$1 million reward for information that leads to them capturing Law.
Rewards of the same amount are on offer for seven other people overseas who are also accused of violating the national security law.
