Hong Kong’s star swimmer Siobhan Haughey has claimed her first-ever medal at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.
She came in second in the women’s 100-metre freestyle final after clocking a time of 52.49 seconds.
Haughey came in behind Australia's Mollie O'Callaghan, who touched home in 52.16 seconds.
Netherland’s Marrit Steenbergen was third in 52.71 seconds.
On Wednesday, the Olympic silver medallist finished fourth in the women's 200m freestyle final.
Writing on her social media, the 25-year-old couldn't hold back her joy.
"My first long course world champs medal... Really grateful for those who helped me refocus after my 200 free," she wrote.
"Fun fact: exactly two years ago today I won my first silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics! Japan seems to be my land of silver."
Acting Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Raistlin Lau, congratulated Haughey on her performance.
"Siobhan Bernadette Haughey performed at her best and demonstrated superb skills in the competition, winning a silver medal for Hong Kong. I am so glad and very proud of her great performance and wish her success in upcoming events,” he said in a statement.
