The Observatory issued the Amber Rainstorm Warning at 10.45pm on Saturday, warning of flooding in some low-lying and poorly drained areas.

It advised members of the public who might be affected to take the appropriate precautions, and said the rain could exceed 30 millimetres in an hour.

It said the heavy rain could also cause flash floods and warned members of the public to stay away from watercourses.

The Amber Rainstorm Warning was cancelled at 12.30am.
