Organisers of the upcoming Food Expo say they’re hoping to see at least a 10 percent growth in visitor numbers this year now people will actually be able to get a taste of the goods on offer.
Some 430,000 people visited the fair last year, but because of the pandemic there was a ban on sampling the food on sale.
"For tasting, I think it is a good news because we have relaxed all anti-Covid measures, so people will be enjoying on-site tasting,” said Deputy Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Sophia Chong.
“We expect because of the consumption voucher, because also of the addition of the Exhibition MTR Station, they will facilitate more people coming from the New Territories as well as from the south of China to come to Hong Kong. So hopefully with these good factors coming in, there will be more spending and more audience and visitors coming in for the show."
This year’s event will boast unique products such as locally brewed non-alcoholic beer and the first hand-brewed truffle milk tea in Hong Kong, the council said.
The expo will be held from August 17 to 21 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai.
