Customs officers say a group of suspected smugglers fled by speedboat as goods worth HK$18 million were seized on Lantau on Tuesday.
Officers said they approached a group of men who were transferring goods in plastic bags from a car to a boat in Lung Shing Street in Tai O.
When they realised they'd been spotted, the men jumped aboard the speedboat and headed towards mainland waters.
Senior inspector Tang Ka-chun said officers found suspected smuggled goods including frozen Wagyu beef, dried shark fins and used tablet computers near the scene.
A lorry and four private cars were seized.
No one has been arrested.
