Customs officials said on Sunday that they've seized about 2 kilograms of suspected cocaine at Hong Kong International Airport, with an estimated market value of about HK$2.1 million.
They said they found the suspected drugs in the linings of three book covers in the rucksack of a 65-year-old man who had arrived in the SAR from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.
The man has been arrested and charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug, and will appear in the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts on Monday.
Officials said that as the number of visitors to the SAR rises, officials would continue to apply a risk assessment approach and focus on passengers from high-risk regions.
