Police are investigating another case of falling concrete after a woman was struck by debris from a building in Tsim Sha Tsui on Tuesday night.

Police said the 41-year-old was hit while walking past a shop on Haiphong Road.

A slab of concrete measuring two metres by 10 centimetres had fallen off the building, but officers said it was not clear whether the woman was hit directly by the large piece, or by fragments.

She was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a conscious state.

The woman was later discharged from hospital.

Police arrested the owner of the shop on suspicion of allowing an object to fall from a height.

Last week, a piece of concrete hit a double-decker bus in Mong Kok, while last month concrete hit a truck, injuring its driver.

Development Secretary Bernadette Linn said earlier that officials have identified around a thousand buildings in urgent need of repair.

She also said the Buildings Department had already started working on some dilapidated buildings, but that it would take months for the work to be completed.
