A 42-year-old man found guilty of raping a teenage girl was on Thursday given an eight-year jail sentence.
The High Court heard the insurance agent had offered the 16-year-old HK$1,000 to go to his flat in Tin Shui Wai and play with his cat, after meeting her on a dating app in January last year.
Judge Amanda Woodcock said the defendant premeditated the offence and traumatised the girl, who had already suffered from depression and acute stress disorder.
She added the teenager had suicidal thoughts afterwards, and only got better last month.
