The government said it’s inviting non-profit-making organisations to submit proposals to lease part of a grade-one historic building in Central for arts and culture purposes for three years.
The south block of the premises on 2 Lower Albert Road is currently home to the Fringe Club, a cultural establishment that features contemporary art works. The club's tenancy, renewed a year ago, is due to expire on March 31, 2024.
In a statement on Monday, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau said non-profit operators, including the Fringe Club, have until October 20 to express their interest on leasing the property.
"The selected applicant will operate, manage, maintain and develop the premises as a unique arts and culture icon to support the continued development of arts and culture, in particular programmes by small and medium-sized arts groups and the youths," the bureau said.
The colonial building, also known as the Old Dairy Farm Depot, was constructed in 1892 and declared as a grade-one historic architecture in 2009.
The Foreign Correspondents' Club, which earlier secured a new three-year lease, is located in the building's north block.
