The Hospital Authority (HA) announced on Thursday that its medication delivery service will extend to all of its specialist out-patient clinics from Monday.
The service allows patients to make appointments on the mobile app "HA Go" after consultations – so that their drugs will be delivered directly to their home or designated address.
A flat delivery fee of HK$65 will be charged for each prescription, regardless of the quantity, weight or type of drugs.
The service was initially rolled out at Queen Mary Hospital and Tseung Kwan O Hospital specialist clinics three months ago.
Benjamin Lee, Chief Pharmacist of HA, told a press conference that around 1,300 patients had used the service – slightly lower than what officials had expected.
He said he believes it will take some time for patients to understand and start using the service.
Moving forward, he said the plan is to extend the delivery service to patients’ carers or parents, accident and emergency patients, as well as those who only require refill medications.
