Hong Kong stocks opened sharply higher on Monday, and equities also gained sharply on the mainland after Chinese authorities slashed stamp duty on stock trades for the first time since 2008.
The Hang Seng Index soared 2.9 percent to 18,484.
The Shanghai Composite Index surged 5.1 percent to 3,219, while the Shenzhen Composite Index jumped 5.6 percent to 1,987.
