The Observatory on Tuesday said tropical storm Haikui had made landfall near Dongshan in Fujian

It said the storm would then move inland into eastern Guangdong and weaken further.

The Observatory said the standby signal No 1 will remain in force before noon and, unless Haikui takes a significantly more southward track, the chance of issuing the strong wind signal No 3 is relatively low.
