Hongkong Post announced on Wednesday that it will release a new set of stamps later this month under the theme of “Hong Kong Vegetables”.
The set of six stamps, featuring vegetables like carrots, corn, radish and Chinese white cabbage, will be available online and at all post offices from September 21.
The official first day covers, meanwhile, will go on sale on Thursday.
“The selected locally grown fresh vegetables, in different containers, are vividly featured [in the stamps] through impressively colourful illustrations”, Hongkong Post said in a press release.
“There are a great variety of vegetables which provide vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, etc. Sufficient consumption of various kinds of vegetables every day can strengthen the immune system and provide protection from chronic diseases."
“Dietary fibre found in vegetables can help improve intestinal function and promote gastrointestinal health,” the department added.
