Robert Kemp reports
The MTR Corporation on Saturday afternoon said temporary repair work on overhead cables at Wong Tai Sin station had been completed and that services on the Kwun Tong Line had returned to normal.

On Saturday morning, the railway company had been forced to temporarily suspend services between Shek Kip Mei and Choi Hung due to an overhead power cable fault at Wong Tai Sin, with an initial inspection pointing to a small water leak being the cause. The disruption came just hours after the MTR had resumed full services on the line.

The MTR said engineering staff had now replaced three insulators at Wong Tai Sin station and redirected dripping water so there was less chance of it affecting the overhead cables.

Some Kwun Tong Line stations were closed on Friday due to flooding caused by the worst downpour in over a century.

The MTR said that, due to the flooding, some station facilities at Wong Tai Sin were still damaged. It said people should expect longer waiting times to use the entry/exit gates and that the platform screen doors would remain open until repairs were completed.

The railway company said lifts and escalators at Wong Tai Sin weren't in service and passengers in need should use Lok Fu or Diamond Hill stations instead. It also said the B3 exit at Wong Tai Sin wasn't in use.
