Police on Tuesday said they have arrested a 46-year-old man on suspicion of indecent assault in relation to a video that had been circulating online, purportedly showing a man pestering a South Korean woman in Central.

The incident came to light when the woman was live streaming for her solo travel blog in Central in the early hours of Monday.

The video that went viral on the internet showed the woman being followed by a man from a tram stop to the Central MTR station. She could be seen repeatedly resisting his advances, before he forcefully pressed her against a wall halfway down the station staircase.

Inspector Kong Wai-ming said during a press conference that the suspect is believed to have molested and forcefully kissed the South Korean visitor in the MTR station before leaving the scene.

The suspect, who's of Indian descent, was arrested in Western District on Tuesday morning. Officers said they found clothing believed to have been worn by the suspect during the alleged assault.

Kong noted that police have received more than 10 reports regarding the case, and urged the victim to contact the force as soon as possible.
