An underground Chai Wan car park that hit by severe flooding during last week’s devastating rains was again underwater on Thursday after another deluge.
The Red Rainstorm Signal was in force for more than four-and-a-half hours on Thursday morning.
Floodwater again rushed into an underground car park at Wan Tsui Estate, where multiple vehicles were left almost completely submerged last week.
This time, there was much less water, though one car-owner reported that the water reached to his calves when he rushed to remove his vehicle after being alerted by the management office.
The heavy rain also left many roads flooded, prompting temporary closures.
Emergency repair works were underway at the slow lane of the Chai Wan-bound direction of Island Eastern Corridor, resulting in congested traffic.
Multiple road accidents also led to temporary road closures and busy traffic. Transport officials are urging commuters to plan their journeys in advance, allow for longer travelling times, and to drive with extra care and patience.
