The Observatory announced just before noon on Thursday that it was dropping all rainstorm warning signals.
It issued the Red Rainstorm Warning signal before 6am, promoting the suspension of all morning-only and full-day schools.
The heavy downpour also triggered landslides and flooding in many areas across the city.
The forecaster later downgraded the red alert to an amber at 10:30am, before dropping it all together.
The Education Bureau said afternoon-only classes will proceed as usual.
